Recomendations for New York-

Breakfast is always great at The Five Leaves

Oysters, Ale and Sunsine down the road in AsWell for happy hour

More oysters - you can never have enough - at the stunning Oyster Bar in the bowels of Grand Central Station and then upstairs for a true New York cocktail in The Campbell Apartment.

Tasty and unusual tacos at Salvation Taco but the main reason to go is that they have one of the nices roof bars in the city.

The Bakeri in Williamsburg serves great coffee and an interesting selection of baked goods. I particularly like their coconut yeast bun stuffed with custard. Anything with custard has me hooked.

ABC Kitchen is unmissable. In an ever changing city I have gone back time and again.

Manhattan under cherry blossom

New York as I mentioned before is one of my favourit places in the world. It is particularly beautiful at this time of year with the streets lined with cherry blossom and flowering magnolia trees.

On this trip we explored down town Manhattan instead of crossing the bridges into Brooklyn. The Fat Radish is well worth a trip down to the Lower East Side, with its market vegetables and clean white decor. After lunch you could walk up through the Nolita district and book a table for dinner at Public. This is a flavour filled, not so cheap, busteling New York type of place.

Miss Lily's on Houston and Sullivan has some of the tastiest food I have eaten in a long time. I want the recipe for their amazing corn. It has it own radio station attached and it really livens up at night with its dinning room covered in old vinyl covers and filled with bright formica tables.

If you want to watch the most glorious sunset make your way past the sleek reception in the Standard hotel in the Meat Packing district and take the lift to the 18th floor. The screens on either wall will guide you from Hade's hell up to heaven and when the doors open you will not be disappointed. The BoomBoom room at the top makes you feel like you have wandered onto a Great Gatsby filmset but with the whole of Manhattan laid out at your feet....Please take time to go to the bathroom while you are there.

Cafe Minerva on 302 West 4th Street is a relaxed place to while away the hours and to drink nice wine at good prices for New York. Or head to the Waverley Inn to people watch and if the weather has turned to its more typical for this time of year you can sit by the fire in their bar.
The Spotted Pig also in the west village has great bar food and cocktail it gets packed to expect long waits but it is fun.

MAD Foodcamp in Copenhagen and a visit to NOMA

Here is a link to all the films taken at MAD Foodcamp in Copenhagen over the Summer. It was organised by Rene Redzepi of Noma and brought together great visionaries in the food world.

It is well worth taking the time to watch some of them.

I had some great meals over the course of my stay most notiably in Pate Pate in the old MeatPacking district ( and in Van Stranden Wine Bar sitting on deck chairs overlooking the canal (

I was not lucky enough to eat at Noma but I did get a guided tour by one of their lovely chefs. I snapped a few photographs while there.

Crush of the year

Inaki Aizpitarte

I fell in love with his Paris restuarant only to return two years later to find he had also opened the wonderful La Dauphin a few doors up.

After finally meeting the man I can not only say that he is a very talented chef but very handsom too.

Lunch in Ibiza Town

A friend just asked me to recomend a few places to eat lunch in Ibiza as she knows that I adore a long lazy afternoon meal and that I adore Ibiza. It is the perfect place to lazy about over a splate of seafood and glass of wine while waiting for the minday heat to die down.

Bon Profit in Ibiza town just on the square by Hostel Parc. They only open for lunch between 12 and 2. It is amazingly cheap and great simple no fuss food. What is lacks in romance in most definatly makes up for in value.

Hostel Parc with its over worked waitresses still remins one of the best people watching places for a coffee or orange juice. Do not subject yourself to the food unless it is breakfast time.

Casa Juan is an all round winner. It looks great and tastes great at a great price. I could happily eat three meals a day here. The best paella on the island for only 5.00

I have to walk past this great street art to get from my friends studio to my favourit place for lunch in London, The Rochelle School House Canteen. Run by Arnold & Henderson has refined the famous nose to tail phrase and made it their own. You have to find the buzzer on a high redbrick wall and when the door opens you are transported back to your school days, but this school is achingly cool. With Giles Deacon owning a studio upstairs you are guarenteed to bump into a few very beautiful and talented people. That is not why I like it. It is the promise of simple, honest, fresh food that brings me to the red brick wall in Shoreditch tima and again.
