I am delighted to have been asked to judge the newly launched Arthur Guinness Projects http://www.arthurguinnessprojects.com/
And I got to lean on Jim McGuinness's shoulder which my GAA playing husband was very excited about.
The funding and mentoring is open to anyone with a good idea.
There has been three million euro set aside to fund projects from four areas; food, arts, music and sport. If you think you could avail please do apply. There are no age or background restrictions, you could have an existing business you want to grow, be just out of college and bubbling with a new idea or have that project in the back of your head that you never had the time to get around to.
Recomendations for New York-
Breakfast is always great at The Five Leaves
Oysters, Ale and Sunsine down the road in AsWell for happy hour
More oysters - you can never have enough - at the stunning Oyster Bar in the bowels of Grand Central Station and then upstairs for a true New York cocktail in The Campbell Apartment.
Tasty and unusual tacos at Salvation Taco but the main reason to go is that they have one of the nices roof bars in the city.
The Bakeri in Williamsburg serves great coffee and an interesting selection of baked goods. I particularly like their coconut yeast bun stuffed with custard. Anything with custard has me hooked.
ABC Kitchen is unmissable. In an ever changing city I have gone back time and again.
I am really looking forward to speaking at The Ballymaloe Literary Festival in May. It looks like it will be a great weekend and it is an honour to be sharing a stage with so many people I have admired for years.
